Piggly No Wiggly Glue Calculator
How much gelatin do you have? (grams)
How the Calculator Came to Be
The recipe shared by Lost Art Press was written by volume.
4:4:1 ratio of gelatin, water, and salt
Measuring powders by volume drives me crazy, so I decided to measure it once by volume but weigh the results for future reference. I measured 84 g gelatin, 128 g water, and 32 g salt. I used 84 g of gelatin because that’s the size of a standard package, and it makes a reasonable amount of glue.
Shortly after my first batch, Megan Fitzpatrick from Lost Art Press generously shared the large batch recipe they use. I scaled everything down from that and when I compared the two versions side by side, the numbers were reassuringly close
I trust the Lost Art Press numbers more, and that’s what powers the calculator.
A huge thank you to Christopher Schwarz and Megan Fitzpatrick of Lost Art Press for their help and their willingness to share knowledge so freely.
